Under the circumstances and considering the reputation of the opposition, then this was one of the finest team displays I've ever seen from Leeds!
We simply blew the Spanish Champions away with our high tempo, all action, highly committed, demolition squad. It's only half a job though and we will be put under considerable pressure over there. I won't do a match report cos most people would have been at the game or seen it on TV.
It's not easy rating the players individually when the collective contribution was 10 out of 10.

Martyn 8 Made a couple of crucial stops at the end.
Mills 8 Very solid.
Harte 9 Amazing freekick.
Matteo 9 Superb defensive display.
Rio 10 A rock at the back and scored a decisive goal.
Bowyer 9 Ran his bollocks off and showed no little skill. Considering the court case, he was unreal.
Batty 9 Usual tenacity and had a SHOT!!
Ollie 9 Il est magnificent!
Kewell 8 At times was awesome but not surprisingly faded.
Smith 10 Frightened the life out of the paella munchers.
Viduka 9 Worked quite hard for one so portly and linked up beautifully with Smiffy.
Sub:
Wilcox 6 Must have found the tempo of the game frightening.
Crowd 10 Superb atmosphere. The crowd really got behind the team and if any player excelled then their name was chanted long and loud.
Ref 8 Kept it flowing.
