Another week, another humiliating home defeat (and a crabby draw. Am I alone in thinking a 0-0 draw is worse than a 1-0 defeat? You know, what might have been? Although I would settle for a 0-0 on Wednesday night, admittedly, but that may come later if I remember).
I won't report on the matches because it would depress me. Instead I want to propose a spot of controversy. Here it is... Aren't you so glad we don't have Hasselbaink any more? I watched the Arsenal Vs Chelsea game on our newly acquired Sky TV and although he scored, he was constantly moaning. At the ref, the opposition, at his own team mates, it didn't matter as long as it earned himself some badly needed (and, we all agree, wholly well deserved) attention. The guy doesn't even smile when he scores.
I know these character traits are recognisable from somewhere, but you don't tend to notice it if he's banging them in for the team you love best. I wouldn't buy trouble makers like him now. Why bother when we have two already? Now I didn't actually see the incident but reports don't sound good. Kelly racing twenty yards to smack Bridges is not good team spirit. This is something that is really worrying to me. When players fall out there is something going on behind the scenes and this should not be happening in September, when the players have had a break from each other.
We don't have the best players in the league so we rely on our team spirit, which has always been faultless under Dave O'Leary. The two are real nice guys and I hope they can kiss and make up like the two toddlers they're acting like. We certainly won't beat Barcelona if there's behind the scenes tension. Because, however confident and/or loyal you are, you must admit that the two clubs stand leagues apart.
Gary Kelly versus Rivaldo or Bowyer versus Guardiola, they are better man for man all over the field (with the exception of their dodgy keeper). But they are beatable - honest. I thought we'd scrape by on team spirit alone until Saturday but now we need an element of luck. All these ifs and buts mean nothing though. Lets just enjoy the Champions League (while we still can).
Bye, Bye Children!
